Mikael Ray Boyd, age 61, passed away at his home in Amarillo, Texas, on January 29, 2024.
Mikael was born on January 31, 1962, in Dumas, Texas to Horace and Katherine "Miss Kitty" Boyd. He was raised in the Dumas area and graduated from the local high school, before joining the military. During his 26 year military career, he served in the Army and Army National Guard. In between his time with the military, he worked at both the Tyson and Pioneer plants, and at a grain elevator.
Mikael was very proud to be part of the Patriot Guard and always tried to help with Toys for Tots, parades, and funeral processions for other veterans. He enjoyed his motorcycles and liked to live life in the fast lane. When he was relaxing, Mikael loved to watch Westerns and historic movies. He had an infectious sense of humor that he brought with him everywhere, especially when he would play pool and go dancing.
Mikael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Winnie and Ross Hood, and Ruby and Levi Boyd; his mother, Katherine; and sisters, Belinda Boyd and Lanell "Sissy" Crawford.
Mikael is survived by his father, Horace; wife, Lori Boyd; brother, Allen Canida; sister, Cindy Wheeler; children, Amber Kirkham, Jessie Boyd, Garrett Boyd, Heather Boyd, Jasmine Boyd, Richard Boyd, and Zachary "Zach" Boyd; step-children, Destiny Hickenbottom and Tiffany Duvak; 9 grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Patriot Guard Riders of Amarillo, Texas, and left in the care of Shafer Mortuary Services, 311 S. Bivins St., Amarillo, Texas, 79104.
