Nick Andrew Cockerell, 38, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on March 1, 2026. He was born on August 10, 1987, in Lubbock, Texas, to Pauline Cockerell, who preceded him in death.
Nick was a hardworking and dedicated man who took great pride in his work. He served as a commercial vehicle driver and heavy equipment operator for The City of Lubbock. Over the years, he also worked as an operator with CitiBus, Greyhound and as a dispatcher. No matter the role, Nick was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and the steady, reassuring presence he brought to every job.
Above all else, Nick was a man with a generous heart. He was always willing to help others, often giving to those in need—even when he himself had little to spare. Whether it was offering money to someone experiencing homelessness or lending a hand to a stranger, Nick never hesitated to show compassion. His kindness was genuine and constant.
On June 26, 2020, Nick married the love of his life, Kelly Koen. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to their family. Nick deeply loved his wife, Kelly JoAnn Cockerell, and was a proud father to his four daughters: Chloe Cockerell, MacKenzie Cockerell, Lucy Cockerell, and Hannah Cockerell. He also embraced his four stepchildren—Rickey Parks III, Taylor Parks Phillips, Fox Parks, and Hunter Parks—as his own, offering guidance, humor, and unwavering support.
Nick had a special place in his heart for the family's beloved dogs, Lil Dog and Sarobbee, whom he loved as if they were his children. His home was filled with the warmth of his laughter and the sound of his steady, beautiful voice—a voice that brought comfort and joy to those who knew him. His sense of humor could lighten any room, and his smile was unforgettable.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Cockerell, whose memory he cherished throughout his life.
