Norma was born on August 16, 1956 in Pampa to Tony and Myrtle Van Houten. She was raised on her family ranches in Channing and Dalhart, where she graduated from high school in 1974. She then received her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice through TDCJ and worked as a corrections officer in Dalhart for several years. Norma also worked at Pizza Hut as the Assistant Manager for many years as well as working as a janitor for the Dalhart School District. She married Tommy Thompson on March 10, 1972 in Dalhart and celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. She enjoyed crocheting in her free time as well as camping with her family and sharing childhood stories from her life on the ranch. More than anything, Norma loved her family and cherished being Grandma and Grandma Noni to her family.
Norma is survived by her husband, Tommy Thompson of Dalhart; 2 daughters, Brandy Pruitt of Dalhart and Cynthia Thompson of Missouri; 2 sons, Jason Thompson and wife Jessica and Steven Thompson, all of Dalhart; 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings, Zona, Marlene, Toni and Faye.
