It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Heberling on December 13, 2025, at the age of 83. Ray was born on July 29, 1942, in Denver, Colorado. His early life was shaped by the travels of his family, thanks to his father's service in the Army Air Corps. After graduating from Price College in 1962, he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge.
After his time in the Navy, Ray took on various roles, first working at the Potash mine and eventually finding his calling as a sheriff in Carlsbad and later in Grants, New Mexico. Ray eventually settled in Amarillo with his beloved wife, Mary Martin; they shared over 43 wonderful years together filled with love and laughter.
Ray was a larger-than-life character. He worked as an armed security guard for Network and later T.J. Security, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and dedication. His true passion, however, was riding motorcycles and taking memorable trips with family and friends. He had a knack for making every ride an adventure and every gathering a joyful occasion.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Mary Martin of Amarillo; daughter, Rebecca Vigil and husband Francisco of Afton, WY; step-children, Shirley Richardson of Amarillo, Donto Richardson and wife Nat of Amarillo, James Richardson and wife Apple of Amarillo and Joseph Richardson and wife Kathy of Borger; sister, Teresa Hunt and husband Dennis of Amarillo; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Heberling; daughter, Rose Lee and infant daughter, Rayleen Heberling.
