Richard Jeffrey Hampton (Jeff), of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on July 5, 2025, at the age of 66. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal friend, and dedicated community member, Jeff lived a life marked by hard work, quiet strength, and selfless service.
Born on September 15, 1958, Jeff spent his life in the Texas Panhandle, where he worked as a truck driver and proudly served as a volunteer firefighter. He was known for his steady presence, big heart, and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. Whether on the road, at the fire station, or at home with his family, Jeff gave his all without asking for anything in return.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie; his two sons, Jason and wife April, and Dustin and wife Lacee; and his two cherished granddaughters, Bently and Bryce and husband Justin, one great granddaughter Natalie, Niece Amy Stover and Husband, Nephew Matthew Northcutt who brought immense joy to his life. Jeff is also survived by his mother, Patsy Hampton, He was preceded in death by his father William Hampton and his sister Cathy Northcutt, whose memories he carried with him always.
A celebration of Jeff's life will be held on July 12, 2025 at 11:00am, at the Palo Duro Cowboy Church 12200 W US 60 in Canyon, Texas. Family, friends, and all who knew him are invited to honor a man whose kindness, humor, and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of service in Jeff's memory—helping a neighbor, supporting local firefighters, or simply showing kindness to others, as he always did.
