Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Rickey Flanagan's passing on May 16, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 24, 1951, in Dumas, Texas, Rickey lived a life full of love, laughter, and classic cars. He moved to Amarillo as a child, where he blossomed into a beloved member of his community and graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1969.

In March 1971, he married the love of his life, Linda Terrel, and together they built a beautiful life filled with adventure, family, and shared passions. As a skilled diesel mechanic, he dedicated his working years to Bruckners, where he retired in 2016. Rickey had a talent for bringing cars back to life, and he could often be found at car shows with a smile on his face, sharing stories and his wealth of knowledge about classic automobiles.

Rickey was known for his outspoken personality, but it was his loving nature that truly defined him, especially when it came to his family. He cherished each moment spent with them and never missed a chance to shower his beloved dogs, Zippy and Billy Ray, with affection.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Flanagan of Amarillo; daughter, Shelley King and spouse Brandy; son, Todd Flanagan and spouse Amber; 4 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Rickey was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Earlene Whitecotton and brother, Donald Ray Flanagan.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for their care and compassion for Rickey.
