He grew up with a strong work ethic and deep sense of loyalty to family and friends that stayed with him throughout his life. He graduated from Greeley High School, where he participated in ROTC and went on to attend Wesleyan College and the University of Northern Colorado. He later earned an associate degree,
continuing to build a life grounded in determination and skill. On July 10, 1976, Bob married the love of his life, Dorothy Oster. Together they built a life filled with hard work, shared passions, and enduring companionship.

He began his career in truck driving, later working in sound system installation and dispatching before eventually owning and operating his own trucking company. He also worked alongside Cummins at truck shows, promoting new engine technologies. A gifted mechanic, Bob spent many years repairing trucks and cars and became an avid Harley-Davidson mechanic. Outside of work, Bob had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycle riding, and camping. He also had a passion for refurbishing firearms, combining patience and craftsmanship in everything he did.

Bob's compassion extended far beyond his profession. He dedicated much of his time to volunteering with the Humane Society of Hereford and other organizations. He worked tirelessly to save the lives of countless dogs, transporting them across state lines for rehoming and opening his own home to foster animals in need. His kindness and generosity made a lasting impact on both people and animals alike.
