Rosa Victoria Martinez- Velasco, 67, of Amarillo, Texas passed away Monday, September 23, 2024. She was born on November 20, 1956 in La Pryor, Texas to Bonifacio Basaldua and Hortencia Del Toro.
Rosa attended La Pryor High School where she graduated in 1975. Rosa married Felix Medina in 1995, they shared 2 years together until his passing in 1997. She then found love with Nemesio Velasco in 1998 and they shared 22 years of marriage until his passing in 2020. Rosa enjoyed watching wrestling, old westerns and dancing. She loved Elvis, being on the farm, bright colors and cooking. Her family shared that she made the best tortillas and caldo, which was Rosa's favorite food. Rosa was "The strongest person you would ever meet" and a hard worker all her life. She loved children and changed many children's lives in Friona, TX. Rosa had a huge love for her family, if you were family there was no step or in-laws with her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elocadia and Andres Del Toro and Bonifacio and Eulalia Basadua; her parents, Bonifacio and Hortencia Basaldua; her first husband, Felix Medina; her second husband, Nemesio Velasco; a sister, Mary Basaldua and a brother, Andres Basaldua.
Rosa is survived by her son, Juan Gabriel Basaldua and wife Carol; six sisters, Wanda, Nellie, Sally, Janie, Ysabel, and Hortencia ; a brother, Bonifacio; four grandchildren, Joel, Eva, Salvador and Lorenzo; four great-grandchildren, Cali, Bentley, Kattaleya and Kato and her beloved family friends, Karen Trinidad, Diane Bliss and Jessica Perez.
