Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Rose Chorn, who left us on July 10, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 17, 1946, in Pennsylvania, Rose brought her infectious spirit to Amarillo when she was just 15 years old. She quickly made her mark, attending local schools and finding her way into the workforce.

For many years, Rose dedicated herself to Bell Helicopter until it's unfortunate closing. But she didn't stop there; she embraced her culinary skills and became known for her delicious meals as a cook, always ready to whip up something special for family and friends.

A passionate football fan, Rose had three teams close to her heart: the Eagles, the Raiders, and the Texans. She could always be found cheering them on, whether from the couch or in the stands. Rose also had a fun-loving streak, often trying her luck with slot machines and blackjack, bringing joy and laughter to those lucky enough to join her.

Above all, Rose cherished her role as grandma. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved every moment spent with them, showering them with love and the warmth that only a grandmother can give.

She is survived by her daughter, Robbye Fletcher of Amarillo; 1 sister; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Melanie Yazbeck and her life partner of over 25 years, Geary Johnson.
