Sandra Kay (Purdy) Moore, 75, passed away on September 8, 2026, in Stratford, Texas.

Sandra was born August 2, 1951, in Liberal, Kansas, to James Purdy and Lorene Chance. She grew up in Hooker, Oklahoma, and throughout her life called many different places home. She lived in and appreciated some beautiful places over the years, but the Oklahoma Panhandle—particularly Guymon and the surrounding area—was always home. No matter where life took her, it was the place she returned to time and again.

Sandra was a fighter. She was resilient, fiercely hardworking, and a survivor of more than her share of life’s challenges. Whatever life placed in front of her, she found a way to keep going.

Throughout her life, Sandra worked a variety of jobs to provide for her family. She spent a large part of her working years driving a feed truck at a feed yard—a job she genuinely loved and took great pride in. She became so experienced at her work that she trained many of the men who came to work there. Her dedication was perhaps best illustrated during one memorable blizzard, when Sandra was the only employee who managed to make it to the feed yard. If there was a job to be done, Sandra was going to find a way to get there and do it.

She later worked as the manager of a storage facility and U-Haul rental before retiring.

But work was never the most important part of Sandra’s life. That place belonged to her family.

She loved her family unconditionally, and nothing made her happier than simply being with the people she loved. She leaves behind a lifetime of stories—some funny, some unbelievable, and many that her family will undoubtedly tell again and again. She worked hard for those she loved, put her family first, and gave them something far more lasting than anything material: the certainty that they were loved.

Sandra is survived by her children, Melissa and Travis King, Shannon Moore, and JR Nunnery and Karlie Blue; her grandchildren, Talisha Coleman, Tyler and Taelyn Costner, Zayaunna Moore, and KaJae and Travis Allen; her great-grandchildren, McCartney Coleman and Aspyn Allen; her sister, Beverly Critser; as well as nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, extended family, and many others who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Purdy and Lorene (Hawkins) Purdy, and her brother, Curtis Purdy.

Sandra’s life was not always an easy one, but it was a life marked by perseverance, hard work, strength, and an extraordinary love for her family. She fought hard, worked hard, loved deeply, and gave her family a lifetime of memories.

And in the end, those who loved Sandra will remember not simply all the places she lived or all the things she survived, but the stories she told, the places she loved, the strength she carried, and most of all, the way she loved her family.
