It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Serena "Si" Sandt, who left us on May 28, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on November 3, 1956, in Canyon, Texas, Serena was a true Texas spirit, bringing warmth and creativity to everyone she met.
A proud graduate of Canyon High School in 1975, Serena followed her calling to care for others by earning her Associate's Degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse from Amarillo College. She dedicated many years of her life to nursing at Canyon Hospital and then in several nursing homes in Amarillo, where her kindness and compassion left a lasting impact on the lives she touched. After retiring in the early 2000s, she could finally dive into her true passions.
On December 21, 1991, Serena married the love of her life, Carl Sandt. Together, they shared a beautiful journey filled with creativity and adventure. Serena loved collecting rocks and crafting Indian items out of flint, showcasing her artistic spirit. Her vibrant adult coloring pieces reflected the joy she found in art, and her extensive collection of gnomes and turquoise added a whimsical touch to her home. An animal lover at heart, she treasured her beloved dog Tinker and enjoyed riding horses whenever she could.
Serena is remembered for her infectious smile, generous heart, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the beauty she brought into the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Nicki Rogers and husband Dillan of Amarillo; son, Russell Rogers and wife Jammie of Poplar Bluff, MO; 2 sisters, Robbie Harrison and husband Greg of Amarillo and Susie Dickson and husband Dan of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Nathanyl Diaz, Tristan King, Kylei Rogers, D.J. Rogers, Zac Rogers, Payton Rogers and Haylee Rogers; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren on the way.
Serena was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Morris and Janna McMurray and husband, Carl Sandt.
