It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert “Shan” Smith, 55, of Amarillo, Texas, who was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Born on November 21, 1970, in Cochran, Georgia, Shan was raised in McRae, Georgia, where he developed the warm, caring spirit that would define his life. He was a devoted and beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness touched the lives of many.

In 1994, Shan moved to Texas and later spent time working at a resort in Colorado, a place he greatly enjoyed and often spoke of fondly. He eventually settled in Amarillo, Texas, where he built a successful career in the medical field with Quest Diagnostics. He took great pride in his work and looked forward to retiring from the company he loved.

Shan will be remembered for his big heart, infectious laughter, generous nature, and unwavering compassion for others. He had a special love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Eve, who passed away in 2023.

A friend to everyone he met, Shan cherished his family, loved making people laugh, and never missed an opportunity to share a joke or a smile. He had a passion for travel and photography, and found beauty in everyday moments, capturing landmarks, murals, and unique sights wherever his journeys took him.

Shan was preceded in death by his beloved father, R L Smith Jr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Arlette Smith; his oldest brother, Travis Statham and wife, Leslie; his sisters, Zandra Everett and Tammie Mixon and husband, Tony; his youngest brother, John Smith; as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Shan's passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Though he left us far too soon, his kindness, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
