Sherri Lynn Welling, 62, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. She was born on March 22, 1963 to Clyde and Virginia (Barham) Welling in Lamar, Colorado.
Sherri was a proud graduate of Palo Duro High School, Class of 1981. She went to nursing school, starting as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working her way to be a Medication Aide and then to be a Licensed Vocational Nurse for The Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Even though she was a double amputee, she never lost her warped sense of humor. Sherri, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Sherri loved mushrooms, The Dallas Cowboys and most of all her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Virginia Welling; a brother, Larry Lirley and a sister, Thelma Hightower.
