Obituary

Steven Edward Phillips was born on September 26, 1969, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Emma Jane Nelson and Richard Eugene Seth. He passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, in Amarillo.

He was later adopted by his stepfather, Daniel Frank Phillips. Steve grew up primarily in the Fayetteville area and attended South View High School. He had a long-term relationship with Penny Gause and to that union their daughter, Kendra LeAnn, was born. Over the years, Steve had a lot of experiences living in many places and working many jobs, eventually ending up in Amarillo, Texas, where he met the love of his
life, Kelly Barrick. They were together for several happy years before her untimely passing in April of 2020.
Steve was an avid Carolina Panthers fan. He loved classic cars and classic music. He loved animals and his dog, JJ, was his faithful companion for the last few years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Phillips, and partner, Kelly Barrick.

Left to remember him are his mother, Jane Nelson of Talladega, AL; daughter,
Kendra Wilkins and husband Dean of Bladenboro, NC; granddaughters Gemma
and Sadie Wilkins; brother, Rick Phillips and wife Betsy of Chickasha, OK; several
aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his friends, Andy and
Jackie Knapp, who were such a comfort to him at the end, and to the staff at BSA
Hospital in Amarillo for their phenomenal care.

A private memorial service will be held later this month in Talladega, Alabama, for Steven Phillips, 55, of Amarillo, Texas.
