Tamara “Tammy” Yvette Byers, 50, passed away on July 22, 2026.
Tammy was born on September 26, 1975, in Lorenzo, Texas, to the late Willie Joe and Shirley Jean Byers. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Tammy dedicated more than 19 years of service to the Canyon Independent School District, working at Canyon High School, Crestview Elementary School, and Gene Howe Elementary School. She took great pride in ensuring each school provided a clean, welcoming, and positive learning environment for students, faculty, and staff. She found joy in caring for the schools where she worked and was respected for her hard work, integrity, and compassion. Outside of work, Tammy enjoyed listening to Christian music, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and attending Canyon High School and West Texas A&M University football and basketball games. She left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Although Tammy never married and had no children, her life was rich with love, friendship, and purpose. She was a devoted sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and neighbor whose warmth and generosity touched countless lives.
Tammy was a woman of kindness and compassion. She will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and grace. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her brothers, Louis D. Byers and wife Merry of Memphis, Tennessee, and Ricky Byers of Amarillo, Texas; her nephews, Tyrone, Terrence, Nik, and Keaton; her only niece, Talara; her aunts, Betty Jones and Frances Eddins; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Joe and Shirley Jean Byers; her grandparents, Joe Willie and Bessie Mae Byers; her uncles, Robert Lee Byers, James Richard Byers, Rayford James Byers, Jean Edward Byers, and Emerson Eugene Byers; and her aunts, Charlene Watson, Dorothy Gonzales, and Joanne Hearn.
