Obituary

Thaddeus Leon Brown ,75, of Amarillo, Texas (lovingly called "Popsey" by his friends and family) was brought into the arms of Christ on November 6,2025. Leon was born to C.A. and Wilda Brown in Sayre, Oklahoma on March 31, 1950. Leon was an original Phillips Blackhawk, graduating from Phillips High School in 1968. His time at Phillips High brought him lifelong friendships and, most significantly, the love of his life, Janice. Leon was devoted to Janice, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage together.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents, C.A. and Wilda Brown. Leon is survived by: his soulmate, Janice; his brother and sister-in-law, Norvell and Trish Brown; his sister and brother-in-law, Lavone and Mike Roberts; his beloved daughters and son-in-law, Stacy Hatfield and Kelly and Colin Foust; and his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Leon was a true jack of all trades, and his abilities were extensive. Many abilities of note include: master electrician; truck and heavy equipment operation; welding; fabrication; inventing; applied engineering; hydraulics; and mechanics. One of the proudest achievements of Leon's life was his novel idea for a downhole sucker rod pump. This invention attracted the attention of some of the biggest names in the oilfield industry and resulted in a U.S. patent. lf you ever find yourself in and around the oil and gas fields of Borger, Dumas or Masterson, Texas, you need only to look up at the electrical power lines criss-crossing the vast prairies and plays of the Texas Panhandle in order to see Leon's power lines and legacy. This contribution continues to energize the oil field to this day.

Leon's life was defined by a deep love and devotion to Christ and an unmatched work ethic. Leon's family will remember him by his friendly, happy personality and sense of humor. Leon was always laughing and joking with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of significant impact on the oil field of the High Plains and selflessness and sacrifice for his family.
