Thomas Scannell, 56, of Amarillo passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023. Tom was born in New York, NY on December 31, 1966 to Thomas and Carol Scannell. Tom was an expert mechanic and a car enthusiast. He was a loyal and valued team member for over 10 years at Derrell's Garage and Equipment Sales. Tom was known to build everything from race cars, to mudd boggers and model cars. Basically if it had a motor, Tom would modify it. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was at the race track filling in as the "Crew Chief" or at the river playing in the mud with his beloved daughter, Ashley. Tom enjoyed taking his boat to the lake and just hanging out with friends and family.

Tom is survived by his parents, Tom William Scannell and Carol Sarnoski and husband Arthur; daughter, Ashley Hamrick and husband Ryan; son, Zackary Ziegenhirt and fiancée Kirsten; sister, Julie Caraballo and husband Anthony; two brothers, Dennis Scannell and wife Lisa and Michael "Mikey" Scannell and wife Heather; grandchildren, Conner and Addison Hamrick and Aubrey Ziegenhirt; seven nephews, Kyle, Dylan, Jamey, and Ryan Scannell and Antonio, Alexander and Austin Caraballo; two nieces; Allison and Jacqueline Scannell and many work and friends Tom considered extended family.
