Wayne Hillin, 89, of Amarillo passed away on December 6, 2024. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Llano Cemetery Mausoleum.
Wayne was born on October 15, 1935 in Canadian, TX to Floyd Floyce and Treva Marie Hillin. He moved to Amarillo as a child, where he attended school. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he earned the rank of private. He was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. Following in his father and grandfather's footsteps, he began employment with the Santa Fe Railroad, working as a conductor for over 49 years.
In his free time, he loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and hunting as often as he could. He especially enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle and was a member of the Amarillo Hog Chapter. In his younger days, he was a Golden Glove Boxer. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Wayne lived life on the edge.. He was known to be fun-loving and adventurous and always had a good sense of humor. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by 4 children, Michael Wayne Hillin, Melanie Ann Corpstein, Marcia Hillin and Marla Sue Self; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
