It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wendell Bass, who departed this life on January 3, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on June 23, 1963 in Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, Wendell was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend to many, whose warmth and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Wanda Faye Bass, as well as his brothers, Alvey Otis Bass, Glenn Edd Bass, and Cletus Ray Bass. He is survived by his loving companion, Buttercup, and his sisters, LaVada Alma Silva, and Rebecca Anna McBride. Additionally, he leaves behind his brother, Ernest Lee Bass, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins all of whom cherished the time spent with him.
A graduate of Melrose High School in New Mexico, Wendell dedicated many years to driving semi-trucks coast to coast, exhibiting a strong work ethic and commitment to his profession. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, such as walking with Buttercup at the park, hunting and fishing, camping and spending time at the farm in East Texas with Rebecca. Family reunions were particularly dear to him, as he loved playing games, shooting pool, and bonding with his nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wendell's readiness to lend a helping hand and his ability to bring laughter and joy made him a cherished member of his community. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
Wendell Bass will be dearly missed, but his legacy of kindness and love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
