It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Darrell Campbell, who left us unexpectedly on January 5, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on January 28, 1963, in Slaton, Texas, to Wilbur and Betty Campbell, William, fondly known as Bill, spent his childhood in McLean.
Bill was a true jack of all trades—after earning his Associate's Degree in HVAC and Industrial Maintenance from Amarillo College, he continued his trade as a contractor and carpenter. His hands could build, fix, or create anything, and he was always ready to lend a hand, always with a smile.
He married his beloved Heidi Smith, and together for 47 years, built a life filled with love and adventure. Bill was the ultimate family man who cherished every moment spent having fun outdoors with those he loved. Whether it was camping under the stars, fishing by the lake, or hiking through nature's beauty, Bill found joy in the simple things and made countless memories with family and friends. His love even extended to his pets, as well as his yard and garden.
Known for his kind and gentle spirit, Bill had a way of making everyone feel special. His laughter will resonate in our hearts, and the warmth of his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
