Zella Faye V. Bailey, 85, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026. Zella was born on December 26, 1940 in Rusk County, Texas to the late Ethan and Jennie Vanzandt. She grew up in Laneville, Texas outside Henderson, Texas with eight brothers, Melvin, EJ, Julius, Kennis, Ezelle, Mack, Joe Earl and Larry and six sisters, Pearline, Lovell, Dorothy Nell, Linda Lou, Fannie Mae and Linda Faye. She graduated from Allen High School in 1960 and moved to Amarillo in 1962. She married in 1964 and divorced in 1976. Zella worked as a domestic technician and as a home healthcare aide for the next 21 years. She raised five lovely daughters and was a faithful Christian. Zella was a member of the body of Christ at North Heights Christian Church I Amarillo, Texas. She had a very strong sense of faith which she shared with all those she met and loved. Zella was a grandmother and auntie to many others, who are now extended family and will always be now and forever. She always told us "Don't go to bed mad!" We worshipped together as a family every Sunday and we brought whomever was willing to come with us. Her influence guided us to have our own relationship with God. Which we shared with our family, friends and so many loved ones. Her memory will live on in our hearts and in our living. Thank you, God for such a blessing bestowed on us. "WE LOVE YOU MOMA!"
She was preceded in death by parents; five brothers, Melvin, Joe Earl, Kennis, Ezell and EJ and five sisters, Dorthy Nell, Pearline, Lovell, Fannie Mae and Linda Faye and two beloved fur babies, King and Snoop.
Zella is survived by five daughters, Veta L Vanzandt, Tina L Archie, Tonya L Cobbins, Gala K White and Felicia K Bailey; her sister, Linda Lou Lewis of Henderson, Texas; three brothers, Mack C Vanzandt of Amarillo, Texas, Larry Vanzandt of Henderson, Texas and Julius Vanzandt of Palo Alto, California; 15 grandchildren, 13 of Amarillo, Texas and two of Houston, Texas; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild of Houston, Texas and one beloved fur baby, Charlie Bugga Bailey of the home.
